Dunbar v NB Colts (Black Stars) - SAT 21 AUG
The players gave lots of effort and showed real determination in this evenly contested match.
Good pressing from our attackers resulted in an early deflected goal for NB. Dunbar equalised and the game followed a cat and mouse approach as NB went into the half time break a goal ahead thanks to powerful running and 2 goals from Finlay.
NB made a spirited start to the 2nd half as new signing John and fellow midfielder Gregor combined well to feed Robbie scoring chances. A counter attack by the home team saw Dunbar draw level.
Robbie scored from a direct free-kick but Ren, Luke & Lewis battled admirably as the increasingly stronger wind gave Dunbar a cruel advantage. Jamie pulled off a number of excellent saves to keep the team in it but Dunbar did enough to knick the game 6-4. written by: Scott Wallace (Coach)
NB Colts Red Stars 3 - 3 Musselburgh Youngstars - Sat 21st August
Team: Monique, Charlie, Noah, Murray, Robbie G, Alex, Rory S, Jonathan A (loan deal from Black Stars), Sam, Elliot, Toby, Joel.
Musselburgh started well and took the lead before Monique scored a great goal to equalise. Although Musselburgh were on top, the Colts were always dangerous on the break through Alex, Sam, and Joel. Excellent defending and goalkeeping against the wind kept the score level at half time. Charlie and Elliot, in particular, did very well to keep passing the ball out of defence even with the new rule change removing the protected zone.
Monique scored again soon after the break to take the lead before Musselburgh equalised. The Colts were pressing hard for the winner when Joel scored only for Musselburgh equalise again late in the game.
A fair result and a good game. Terrific effort all round with an especially good performance from top tackler Toby.
